Candida Grogg

As the founder, director, and visionary of Eastern NC Faith & Beauty Conference, Candida is so excited to share God's word at SHINE 2016.  Having grown up in a Pastor's home, and accepting Jesus at a young age, she has always had a life with God.  After graduating from Dixon High School in 1990, she was awarded a  full athletic scholarship to the University of Mount Olive where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology.  She immediately began working with her mother in the salon and spa industry at Hairtage Salon & Day Spa, as a licensed massage therapist as well as manager.  Candida married her husband Chris March 30, 2002.  They were blessed with their firstborn beautiful girl, Chandler Rae, August 5, 2003.   After losing Chandler to an accidental drowning June 20, 2005, their lives will never be the same.  Through this, their marriage has grown deeper than ever, and God is continuing to heal.  To aid in her healing and growth, God blessed her to open her own business, Blessed Body Day Spa in 2007.  The spa is located in Cedar Point, NC, and is a thriving business where others may experience a place of healing and wellness.  Candida and Chris have been blessed with 3 other beautiful children, Chase(9), Canaan(7), and Callie Grace(4).  The vision of Faith & Beauty was imparted into Candida in 2011 and came to life in 2013.  She has such a passion and love for God in all she does, whether it is with her family, giving a healing massage, worshipping on stage, or ministering to the women and young girls God has surrounded her with.  She will be sharing her testimony with us this year as well as the word God has given her to share, "From Broken to Broken Open." If you or anyone you know has suffered a child loss, loss of any kind at all, or just needs to be encouraged, please make plans to attend and BE BLESSED!

Friday, May 27th  Keynote Speaker:      Brooks Sumner

At the age of 15, Brooks was involved in a tragic car accident that shaped the rest of her life. Up until that point she had never taken God’s purposes seriously.  Throughout her life, she has come to realize that God is still God, and He is more concerned with our growth than our comfort. Recently, she and her husband, Sam, endured double tragedy when they discovered he needed another kidney transplant and she discovered she had cancer. Nonetheless, they came to trust that God was still in control. Just as the Lord said through Jeremiah, “I know the thoughts I think towards you… give you an expected end.” They learned that no matter how difficult or unfair life seems, God isn’t shocked. He is doing something for our good and His glory. Brooks is a driven and passionate minister who has a vision to see people, especially women, grow spiritually and become active parts of the Body of Christ. She is an ordained minister with the Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church and was the Director of the Girls Ministry for 3 years. She has also preached in numerous churches throughout Eastern North Carolina.  In 2005, Brooks and Sam founded Walk the Line Ministries, which seeks to train and engage young minsters in hands-on ministry. In addition, their ministry does mission work in Jamaica, which includes putting young people to work in the mission field. They are both humbled to serve the people of Pathway Church in Beulaville, North Carolina where her husband is one of the pastors.  Brooks and her husband live in Beulaville with their miracle son, Kross and two dogs, Jalen and Healer.

Saturday, May 28th Keynote Speaker:      Delores "DJ" Hummons

As an evangelist, life coach, entrepreneur, and mentor, DJ is a gift to the body of Christ encouraging them in being "Fit for Life" in all areas of their lives. With a passion to minister to women and youth, she is the founder of Fit for the Kingdom. This is a health and wellness ministry including "Vessels of Honour" outreach dance ministry mentoring underprivileged and at-risk youth in Dayton, Ohio.  As she spreads the gospel, DJ motivates, encourages, and compels all to think outside the box believing that everyone has a purpose and a destiny to fulfill the gift that God has placed inside them.  She believes the only one unable to fulfill their purpose in life is the one aborted before birth, and that your past does not dictate your future.  DJ and her husband Kenneth has been married for 26 years and have 2 sons, Kenneth(22) and Christian(12), with the oldest serving in the US AirForce.  We are so excited to have her join us at Faith & Beauty as our Saturday night keynote speaker. You will be SO BLESSED!
